Sydney is Australia's most famous and popular city. Known worldwide for its iconic landmarks of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, plus the image of bronzed Aussie beachgoers enjoying the fabulous sun, no trip to Australia, or even NSW, would be complete without visiting Sydney.

Sydney has some of the chicest, most modern, elegant and exclusive hotels in the country if not the world. She was also the host of the 2000 Olympic Games, which brought a massive influx of tourists from across the globe 'down under'. No doubt many of them took Paul Hogan's famous advice to "Throw another shrimp on the barby" while getting comfortable in Australia's largest city.

Be sure, when choosing your accommodation in Sydney, to find a hotel, bed and breakfast or even apartment near to the tourist spot that most interests you. There are many to choose from, so take a little extra time to browse our Sydney categories and find just the right spot for you.

Sydney, with a population of almost 4 million, is quite an easy city to get around in. Unless visitors to Sydney are specifically wanting to see friends living in the outer suburbs, most will have no real need to travel far from their hotel, bed and breakfast or apartment in the central city area. Most Sydney tourist attractions are either within the central business district, close to the CBD, or around the harbour area. The exceptions are Bondi and Manly - surf beach suburbs situated south and north of Sydney Heads.

If you've only got a week or a few days in Sydney, your time would be best spent by taking a walk around the CBD area, visiting The Rocks or spending time on the harbour. After all, the harbour IS Sydney and on a warm day, with a clear blue sky, there is no better place on earth (not that we're biased!).
